Newsletter 21st March 2025

Here is our newsletter for the week ending 21st March 2025

Miss O'Mahony's Message.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Spring has finally arrived at Co-op Academy New Islington this week! What a lovely week of sunshine and light starts to the day! There is a lovely buzz around the school as children are excited about their learning.

The children and Mrs Mirazi have been busy making our learning terrace a beautiful place to be by planting a range of different flowers and plants.

Our reception children have continued to develop their understanding of people who help us and have had special visitors of everyday superhero nurses and dentists visiting us this week.

We are looking forward to our Easter celebrations. Please note we will be having a home clothes day on Friday 28th March for donations for our Easter Raffle. Please find attached information about this, our Easter egg competition and Easter Bonnet parade. Thank you for all of your continued support and fingers crossed the sunshine is here to stay!

Many thanks,

Miss O'Mahony

Medication

Please be aware that we can only administer medication that has been prescribed by a doctor. The medication must be in its original container with the prescription label intact, including the child's name and dosage.

You will need to bring the medication to the office and fill out a form before any medication can be given.

If you wish to give your child non-prescription medicines (calpol, cough medicine etc.) you can come in and administer these yourself, but we cannot administer them ourselves.

Please make sure you do not give your child medication to keep with them in their bags, and that all medication comes to the office.

Mrs Williams Book Recommendation

Each week, Mrs Williams (and maybe some other staff) will suggest a good book to read.

Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston

This is a great book and the first in a series. The series follows 13 year old Amari who is trying to figure out how and why her brother Quinton has gone missing. After making a mysterious discovery, it turns out not all is as it seems and there may have been a few things about Quinton Amari did not know about.

Will her admittance to the secret Bureau of Supernatural Affairs help her in her quest to find Quinton? Amari is sure the answer lies somewhere deep inside as long as she can get her head round the existence of mermaids, yetis and magicians.  If that wasn’t enough Amari is given an illegal ability and with an evil magician threatening the whole supernatural world, and her own classmates think she is the enemy, Amari has never felt more alone.

A great book full of magic, suspense, danger and mystery.

For ages 10 and above

Let’s celebrate everyone’s success together.
