New Islington News – Edition 31

Celebrating our children:

This week, the following children have been recognised for showing a good understanding of the Ways of Being Co-op: Hanna, Paulina, Adam and Olivia, Chiu Yu and Farida, Alexander and Raghavi, Noah, Aminah and Fran, Yatra and James, Theon, Mila and Zoe, Stacie and Dylan, Stevie and Clotilde, Lola and Kairo and Ava R

Musical Appreciation:

This week the children have listened to a medley of traditional rhythms from West Africa and South Africa.

Trauma and Mental Health Award:

Following our recent TISUK award visit we are delighted to confirm that Co-op Academy New Islington has achieved the Trauma and Mental Health Informed Schools Award.

The consultant was highly impressed by the standard of practice within our school and thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

Many thanks for the hard work and determination of Miss Morris who has worked tirelessly, taking the team with her, to ensure our pupils get the very best.

A huge thank you:

Such generosity has been on show over the last few weeks; over 65 pencil cases ready filled with resources, plus many other stationery items, are now boxed and ready to be shipped off to Sierra Leone.

Our choir:

Our choir and marimba / drumming band performed at a huge event on Saturday – at the Co-op AGM. They did themselves, their families and the school proud. Feedback on their confidence and skill was commented upon by everyone attending. Many thanks to the families and friends who gave up their Saturday to ensure the pupils arrived on time, and to the staff who supported the amazing Mrs Mirazi at this event.

Vouchers:

Our families who are eligible for free school meal holiday vouchers will be able to collect these after the half term break; the vouchers have not yet been issued to us. We will send families a text when the vouchers have arrived with us.

Wraparound Hours Extended:

From September, the morning Wraparound hours will be extended. Doors will open at 7:30 and the cost will be £4:00. Book and pay online ahead of the time as usual.

From September, the after school costs will increase. Collect by 4:30 cost will be £5:50 and collect by 6:00 cost will be £12:00
