New Islington News – Edition 34

Celebrating our children:
This week, the following children have been recognised for showing a good understanding of the Ways of Being Co-op: Primrose and Zayne, Divit, Linnie and Ashayah, Eesa and Dafne, Jordan, Lola and Lorcan.
Music Appreciation:
To fit in with our whole school Going Global focus, we listened to music played on a Shamisen – a traditional Japanese three stringed instrument.
Strike Action:
Further Strike Action is planned for Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July. Details of which classes are open and which are closed has been sent out.
Sports Day:
Our EYFS and Key Stage One classes will have their Sports day on Friday 14th in the morning – starting at 9:30. Our Key Stage Two classes will have their event in the afternoon, starting at 1:30. (Please note this is a change in running order) Parents will be notified of the team colours today to give plenty of time to find / borrow a coloured t-shirt. Parents are very welcome to come along and support the teams.
Free School Meal Holiday Vouchers:
For families eligible for holiday meal vouchers, physical vouchers will no longer be issued. A barcode will be issued to your personal email address. Please ensure that we have the correct address on our system.
Dietary Requirements:
A new Government directive has been issued. From September, a GP letter supporting and confirming all Dietary requirements must be shared with school. This includes allergies, sugar free diets, vegan diets or any other specific dietary requirements. More details will be shared – for those that this affects, please check your emails for further details.
Ready Set Read:
Look out for the poster that has been shared with our families, giving details of this summer’s Reading Challenge. This is a free event run by local libraries and we encourage families to go along and sign up!
