Newsletter 4th April 2025

Here is the newsletter for this week

Mr Berry's Message.

Dear Parents Carers,

It has been lovely this week to see all the creative and academic accomplishments children across the school have been completing at home. We have had exceptional science posters and wonderful easter egg decorations in my office and I have given out more Headteacher's Awards than I can count!

As we come up to the Easter holidays, I would like to personally thank every member of our community. We asked for Easter egg donations in the last week and, as always, have been blown away by the generosity and kindness shown by so many of you. We truly are very lucky to serve the community at New Islington.

Have a lovely two weeks off and we can't wait to welcome everyone back for the Summer term!

Football News

More good news from Mr Jackson this week. The Year 3 and 4 boys team played a tournament at Trinity High School on Tuesday. They won 3 games, lost 2, but finished second overall.

Mr Jackson said all the boys were amazing and showed great enthusiasm and team spirit in every game.

Well done everyone!!

Mrs Williams Book Recommendation

Each week, Mrs Williams (and maybe some other staff) will suggest a good book to read.

Hello Lighthouse

Sophie Blackall

Hello Lighthouse is a beautiful book with stunning illustrations on every page.

It is a story about the passing of time as a new Lighthouse keeper comes to look after the lighthouse. Read and explore as the fog rolls in, icebergs float past and storms rage against the lonely lighthouse. See as the lighthouse keeper’s wife comes to join him and a baby shortly after and his heroic efforts to save people stranded in a storm.

Sophie Blackalls illustrations make this book, and it is a delight to look at.

For ages 6 and above

Let’s celebrate everyone’s success together.
