Here is our newsletter for this week

Mr Berry's Message.

Dear Parents/Carers,

It was a delight this week to be able to share with you all our recent Ofsted Report and kind letter from Manchester City Council. Both are a true reflection of the dedication and passion shown by all staff, children and parents/carers who make up our wonderful community.

I am very grateful for the privilege of working alongside you all.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mr Berry

Ofsted Report

Ofsted rates us ‘Good’ in all areas!

Following a two day inspection last month - which was our first in 10 years! - Ofsted praised our school for its vibrant and inclusive atmosphere, where pupils thrive on learning.

The report highlighted how our wonderful pupils take immense pride in their school, benefiting from strong relationships with staff and feeling well-supported in all aspects of their education.

The report read: “Around school, pupils are confident. They are celebrated as individuals who are free to express their unique personalities. The atmosphere is one of happiness, inclusivity and vibrancy.

“Pupils are polite and considerate of others. They are respectful of each other’s

opinions and beliefs.”

Behaviour was also celebrated within the report noting: “Staff have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour. Pupils know and follow the school rules, conducting themselves maturely and sensibly.”

We were also recognised for offering a “clear and ambitious curriculum” which ensures our pupils develop a secure body of knowledge. Our incredible teaching staff were also praised for actively checking pupils’ understanding and adapting lessons to meet their needs.

Beyond the classroom, Oftsed noted the “broad range of opportunities to enhance personal development” to help our  pupils “have high aspirations for their future.”

Our dedication to meeting the needs of pupils with SEND was also reported, acknowledging that we ensure pupils receive compassionate and purposeful support.

Headteacher, Joshua Berry, said: “The report truly reflects the dedication, passion and hard work that make our academy such a special place.

“At Co-op Academy New Islington, we strive to create a nurturing and inspiring environment where every child can thrive, and it’s wonderful to see this recognised. A huge thank you to our staff, families, and, most importantly, our amazing students!”

CEO of Co-op Academies Trust, Dr. Chris Tomlinson, said: “Congratulations to Joshua Berry and the team at Co-op Academy New Islington.

"The report highlights some wonderful comments about the staff and students showing their enthusiasm for learning and school life. The community has a school to be proud of and one that continues to keep making progress, we're sure they will continue to "strive for excellence’.”

Mrs Williams Book Recommendation

Each week, Mrs Williams (and maybe some other staff) will suggest a good book to read.

The Night Gardener by The Fan Brothers

I love this book! It's a real stunner!  This is the story of William, an orphan, who one night looks out of his bedroom window and sees that a topiary owl has been crafted by a mysterious gardener in the night. Slowly, Grimlock Lane is transformed into a magical place filled with cats, rabbits and even a dragon.

This is a heartwarming story of a sad town and a lonely orphan given new life by the kindness and skill of The Night Gardener
